Social Services called & three subjects arrested by LSO

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Detective Jason Back along with Detective James Sizemore and Deputy Kyle Gray, Deputy Brandon Broughton, and Deputy Jamie Grimes arrested three individuals on Monday evening June 6, 2016 at approximately 5:28 PM.

The arrests occurred after deputies were dispatched to a drug activity complaint at a motel 10 miles south of London in southern Laurel County.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found three subjects in a room there along with two children ages six and seven.

Deputies found the three individuals in possession of 2.89 g of crystal methamphetamine, two sets of digital scales, numerous plastic baggies in different colors and sizes, and five used needles.

In addition one of the adults – Joshua Gibson had a large sum of US currency in his possession and has no proof of a job.

Arrested was:

  • Joshua Gibson age 25 of Tyes Ferry Rd., Rockholds, KY charged with trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; wanton endangerment – second-degree; and possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition this subject was charged with operating on DUI suspended license and numerous other traffic violations.
  • Shannon Hollin age 22 of Tidal Wave Rd., Corbin charged with trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; wanton endangerment – second-degree; and possession of drug paraphernalia. This subject was also charged with giving officers a false name – she identified herself as Shannon Brown initially.
  • Rex Gray age 27 of Hammons Fork Rd., Woolum, Ky charged with trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; wanton endangerment – second-degree; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Social Services was called and Joshua Gibson's children were released to other family members.

    All three individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
