LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: A phone/ mail scam has surfaced in Laurel County where persons are being contacted either by phone or a bill in the mail.
A caller(s) is telling them they owe toll for a road or bridge in different locations throughout the United States they allegedly traveled across (even though in all instances, victims say they have not driven those roads.
This is a scam to steal money from unsuspecting citizens. Do not give out personal data or financial information. Do not send money.
The Laurel County Sheriff's Office continues their investigation into this most recent phone/mail scam.
