LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Bobby Roberts arrested Justin Helton age 31 of Reams Ln., London on Sunday night June 23, 2024 at approximately 9:05 PM.
The arrest occurred on S. Laurel Rd. in London following a traffic stop conducted on a black Kawasaki motorcycle that had no license plate on it.
During the stop, the driver was determined to be under the influence.
The driver gave Deputy Roberts a false name multiple times before finally giving his correct identifying information.
Upon receiving the current information, Deputy Roberts determined that this individual had six outstanding warrants.
In addition, during arrest the driver was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia.
Deputy Roberts seized the contraband (right).
Justin Helton was charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
- Giving officer false identifying information
- Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine
- Tampering with physical evidence; possession of drug paraphernalia
- Theft of identity of another without consent
- Operating on suspended or revoked operator's license
- Failure of owner to maintain required insurance – first offense
- No registration plates.
In addition, this subject was charged on six (6) warrants of arrest including:
1. A Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:
- Operating on suspended or revoked operator's license
2. A Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:
- Operating on suspended or revoked operator's license
3. A Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court for arraignment on charges of:
- Operating on suspended or revoked operator's license
4. A Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court for arraignment on charges of:
- Disregarding a traffic control device – traffic light
5. A Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:
- Operating on suspended or revoked operator's license
6. A Knox District Court complaint warrant of arrest obtained by Knox County Sheriff's Department Deputy Jeremiah Williamson charging:
- Fleeing or evading police – first-degree – motor vehicle
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense
- Six counts of wanton endangerment – first-degree – police officer is victim
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
