PARIS, KY (Thursday, March 6, 2025) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 6 in Dry Ridge has been involved in an investigation resulting in six individuals being charged with Cruelty to Animals.
Post 6 was requested on Sunday, March 2nd, to assist with a call for service on Clay-Kiser Road near Paris. Upon arrival, and with the assistance of the Bourbon County Sheriff's Office (BCSO), Troopers discovered evidence of alleged chicken-fighting activities and an investigation was initiated.
The initial call for a disturbance at the residence led to a BCSO deputy responding to the scene. Throughout the course of his response, the deputy observed a number of deceased roosters behind the residence and requested assistance from KSP.
Troopers and detectives responded to the scene and, after securing a search warrant, confirmed over 70 deceased roosters at the location along with others that were severely injured. The investigation indicates that the animal's deaths and injuries were a direct result of chicken-fighting activities.
As a result of the investigation, six individuals were charged with:
- Cruelty to Animals- 2nd Degree
Those six individuals are:
- Abel Aguirer, 33 years of age
- Marco Espinoza, 30 years of age
- Fabian Lopez, 30 years of age
- Cierra Cooper, 28 years of age
- Gil Aguirer, 38 years of age
- Maeja Hepibetomeia, 43 years of age
This investigation remains ongoing. KSP remains active across the state, cracking down on chicken-fighting, including investigations in Bethelridge, Blackberry, Dunnville, and Bardstown Ky.
