BEREA, KY - The Madison County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit was requested to assist Berea Police Department with a single vehicle fatal collision on Thursday, February 8, 2024 around 1:00 a.m.
The initial investigation indicates a Buick passenger car was traveling on Mayde Road in Berea when it left the roadway and collided with a tree.
The driver, Alex Clark 20 years old of Berea was pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison County Coroner’s Office.
The passenger, Ty Thompson 19 years old also of Berea sustained serious injuries and was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Alcohol involvement and speed are suspected factors in the collision.
The collision is being investigated by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit.
They were assisted on the scene by Richmond Police Department, Berea Police Department, Madison County EMS, Berea Fire Department and the Madison County Coroner’s Office.
