KAHP Giving Away Unlimited Ride Wristband to Attendees Receiving a Vaccine at the Kentucky State Fair

3rd annual promotion aims to increase vaccine access and acceptance and raise childhood vaccination rates

LOUISVILLE, KY – Kentucky Association of Health Plans (KAHP), the trade association representing commercial insurers and Medicaid managed care organizations in the Commonwealth, today announced its third annual KY State Fair vaccination pop-up clinic and incentive giveaway.

Throughout the KY State Fair Aug. 17-27, KAHP will be giving away a free unlimited ride wristband (*while supplies last*) when attendees go to the Health Horizons Pavilion in South Wing B to receive a vaccination.  Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

In addition, those receiving a vaccine will be able to spin the wheel for a chance to win prizes like a bonus ride pass, food voucher, or $25 gift card.

Some of the vaccines offered will be Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap), Flu, and more.

Medicaid members may also be eligible to receive an incentive offered by their health plan in addition to the KAHP giveaway.

“The recent outbreak of Whooping Cough (Pertussis) in Lexington is something that should concern us all,” said Tom Stephens, KAHP President & CEO. “Children, pregnant women, newborns, and those around other medically vulnerable people are most at risk.  It is vaccine-preventable, so we are urging folks to stay up to date on their shots.  We have seen an alarming trend with fewer Kentucky children receiving Tdap vaccines, which protect against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis,” continued Stephens.

KAHP will also have a kid-friendly zone with coloring books and life-size “Max the Vax” and “Maxine the Vaccine” cut-outs.

The organization is getting the word out about the promotion through radio advertisements and targeted digital ads around the Fairgrounds.
