KSP Charges Trimble Co. Man With Child Sexual Exploitation Offenses

PENDLETON, Ky. (Jan. 26, 2018) - On January 25, 2018, at approximately 2:37 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch arrested Jonathan McClain, 25, on charges related to child sexual exploitation.

McClain was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect using social media to engage in sexual conduct and communication with minors.

The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Pendleton on January 25, 2018. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP's forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.

McClain is currently charged with five counts of promoting a minor under 16 in sex performance,10 counts of possession of matter portraying a sex performance by minor and 10 counts of distribution obscene matter to minors 1st offense. Promoting a minor under 16 in sex performance is a Class-B felony with each count punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison. Possession of matter portraying a sex performance by minor is a Class-D felony with each count punishable by one to five years in prison. Distribution of obscene matter to minors 1st offense is a Class-A misdemeanor, punishable by up to 12 months in jail.

McClain was lodged in the Carroll County Detention Center.
