Taser Ineffective During Arrest of an Aggressive Manchester, KY Man

MANCHESTER, KY — Clay County Sheriff, Patrick Robinson, reports that on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at approximately 10:47 a.m., Deputy Dustin Henson assisted by Officer Jared Smith, attempted to serve a warrant on Travis Love, 45, of Manchester.

Upon making contact with the above mentioned suspect he seemed very agitated and was talking out of his head in a belligerent manner.

After advising Love that he had a warrant of arrest he begin to rush back inside his residence. While attempting to gain control of Love he began to swing his arms and hands at Deputy Henson and Officer Smith in a very aggressive manner. During Love swinging his arms and hands he made contact with Deputy Henson's arms and shoulders causing minor physical injury, Love also made contact with Officer Smith.

During the struggle to restrain the suspect Deputy Henson deployed his taser and it was ineffective. After Deputy Henson gained control and gave several verbal commands for the above mentioned suspect to place his hands behind his back, he locked his arms and refused to give Deputy Henson his hands.

Once deputies were finally able to place Love under arrest, he was transported to the Clay County Detention Center.

Travis Love was arrested for:

  • RESISTING ARREST
  • ASSAULT 3RD DEGREE-POLICE OFFICER OR PROB OFFICER
  • MENACING
  • FLEEING OR EVADING POLICE, 3RD DEGREE (ATTEMPT)

This individual was lodged in the Clay County Detention Center.
