FATAL CRASH ON HWY 97 IN KLAMATH COUNTY, OREGON

KLAMATH COUNTY, OR - On Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 9:33 a.m., Oregon State Police responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Hwy 97, near milepost 272, in Klamath County.

OSP NEW LOGO175The preliminary investigation indicated southbound Freightliner and trailer, operated by Usman Ahmad (36) of Sacramento (CA), struck a pedestrian, Christian Lee Cleven Corwin (38) of Klamath Falls, who entered the lane of travel.

The pedestrian (Cleven Corwin) was declared deceased at the scene.

The operator of the Freightliner (Ahmad) was not injured.

The highway was impacted for approximately one hour during the on-scene investigation.

OSP was assisted by the Klamath County Fire District 1, Klamath Falls Police Department, and ODOT.
