Tom Carlo Collins, age 75, husband of Lena Collins of Big Creek, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the Baptist Health in Lexington, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Henry and Viney Smith Collins, born April 14, 1944 in Clay County, Kentucky. He was a retired employee of the United States Government. He enjoyed going to church, hunting, and being with his family and grand kids.
David Rex Lewis was born August 25, 1940 in Leslie County, Kentucky to the union of the late Bill and Florence Vanover Lewis. By occupation, David was a retired coal miner and school bus driver. David was a caring person and was always there for people when they needed him. He enjoyed reading the Bible and listening to gospel music. Above all, David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. David departed this life on Monday, February 17, 2020 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was 79 years old.
Mr. Lonzo Morgan of London, formerly of Leslie Co. passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the St. Joseph Hospital in London, KY. at the age of 79. Lonzo was born May 29, 1940 at Stinnett, Ky., the son of the late, Matt Morgan & Lucy Mosley Morgan. Lonzo had been a resident of London, KY for the past year and half, prior to living at Essie, KY. & Dayton, Ohio. By occupation Lonzo had worked as a self-employed carpenter in Dayton building homes & as a coal miner for Shamrock Coal Co. He was one of the charter members that founded the Stinnett Volunteer Fire Dept. he served as an active fire fighter for 33 years. Lonzo was a member of the Upper Grassy Branch Pentecostal Church at Essie, Ky. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling & especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Johnny Russell Robinson was born December 11, 1951 in Jackson County and departed this life Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the Jackson Manor Nursing & Rehab in Annville, being 68 years of age. He was the son of the late John & Isabel “Gerry” (Tincher) Robinson.
Douglas Keith Madden, 57, of Stafford passed away unexpectedly on February 11, 2020 in North Carolina.
He was a devoted husband and father. Douglas was the funniest person you could ever meet. To know him was to have a lifelong friend someone you could always count on. He served in the US Army for 22 years. During that time he served as a president’s escort in the Old Guard, was an instructor at West Point, served at Palm Circle in Honolulu, HI; and was deployed across the globe, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Kosovo, and Haiti. Douglas was incredibly skilled and inventive, and constantly working on projects around the house and cabin.
Evelyn Gibson, age 95 departed this life on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born on Monday, September 8, 1924 in Manchester, Kentucky to the union of Carter and Lizzie Reid Anderson. She was a cook and a member of the Pine Grove Church of Christ.
Mrs. Sadie Woods passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the Hazard ARH Medical Center in Hazard, KY. at the age of 76. Sadie was born on April 25, 1943 the daughter of the late Sherman Osborne and the late Dora Vivian Salyers Osborne. By occupation she was a homemaker and had been a life-long resident of Leslie County with the exception of having lived in Dayton, Oh for 15 years and then moved back here in 1976. Sadie enjoyed sewing, crafting, going to yard sales and family get-togethers and dinners. But her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. Sadie was affiliated with the Holiness Faith.
