Irene Philpot Roberts, 77, of Manchester, KY, passed away Saturday, May 18th, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home in Annville, KY. Irene was born in Manchester, KY, on June 9th, 1946, a daughter of the late Tole and Sally Gibson Philpot. Anyone that knew Irene knew she would help them anyway she could, she had a heart of gold.
She is survived by two children: Rhonda Roberts of Manchester, KY, and Dennis Roberts and wife Becky of Manchester, KY. She is also survived by a special granddaughter who was always by her side Jamie Bowling.
She is also survived by three sisters: Judy Philpot and Ollie Philpot of Manchester, KY, and Sophia Philpot Halcomb of Richmond, KY.
She is also survived by two very special friends, Stella B. House and Eloise House.
In addition to Irene’s parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Alma Sue Roberts, her brothers, Jimmy Philpot and David Philpot, her sisters Etta Ruth Smallwood, Laura Abner, Virginia Philpot, her ex-husband Otis Roberts the father of her children, and brother-in-law Dennis Halcomb, and loving companion Virgil “Junior” Wagers and her son-in-law James Bowling.
She is survived by six grandchildren: Jamie Bowling, Tiffany and husband Chris McVey, Travis and wife Lori Roberts, Bradley and wife Amanda Roberts, Hunter Lloyd Roberts, and Meghan Roberts. She is also survived by four great grandchildren Conner McVey, Trey Roberts, Bradyn and Landyn Roberts.
Services for Irene will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 22nd, at Britton Funeral Home, with George Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Engine Cemetery on Barbourville Road.
