Mother & 10 year old son airlifted from Injury crash scene on KY 80 in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy John Inman investigated a single vehicle injury traffic crash which occurred on KY 80, approximately 4 miles west of London on Friday afternoon June 16, 2016 at approximately 12:22 PM.

The investigating deputy reports that apparently a silver colored Ford Focus was traveling eastbound on KY 80, when it ran off the road, traveling over an embankment, striking a small tree and coming to rest.

The driver was identified as: Amy Hammock age 39 and her passenger (her 10-year-old son), of London. Both were injured and were flown by helicopters to UK Hospital Lexington for treatment of injuries.

Assisting at the scene of the crash was Laurel Sheriff's Office Lieut. Greg Poynter. Also assisting was Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, London Laurel rescue squad, Swiss Colony volunteer fire department, PHI helicopter, and Air Evac helicopter.

Cause of the traffic crash remains under investigation.
