(Harlan, Ky.) – Kentucky State Police responded to a two vehicle collision on U S Highway 119 in the Tremont community of Harlan County around 12:07 PM on Friday.
A 1993 Ford Tempo operated by David Blanton, 51, of Coldiron, Ky was traveling southbound on U S Highway 119. Blanton’s vehicle according to witnesses began driving eradically. Blanton’s vehicle swerved across centerline and then back into southbound lane.
A 2012 Kenworth operated by Ronnie Fields, 53, of Whitesburg, Ky was traveling behind Blanton. Fields was unable to avoid a collison with Blanton. Fields’ vehicle left front struck Blanton’s vehicle in the rear in the southbound.
Blanton sustained several injuries and was flown to Holsten Valley Medical Center. Fields was not injured in the collision.
Possible charges may be pending.
The collision is being investigated by Tpr. Kenny Abner. He was assisted on scene by Troopers Jared Boggs and Jimmy Halcomb.
Also assisting was Commerical Vehicle Enforcement Offc Jason Freeman and LifeCare Ambulance Service.
