MANCHESTER, KY - Clay County Sheriff, Patrick Robinson, reports that on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Deputy Dustin Henson and Deputy Dewey Grubb responded to a call in reference to a side-by-side ATV that was possibly stolen out of Laurel County and spotted around Burning Springs Elementary School.
Upon arrival at the scene, Deputies began an investigation and were able to locate the side-by-side and conducted a traffic stop.
Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Robert Earl Hammons, age 47 of Manchester, KY, he stated to deputies that he paid $1500 cash for the vehicle and he bought it off of another individual.
The VIN was ran through Clay County Dispatch where it was determined through NCIC that the vehicle was stolen out of Laurel County. Hammons was placed under arrest and later transported to the Clay County Detention Center.
Robert Hammons was arrested for:
- RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY $1,000 < $10,000
- FAILURE TO APPEAR
This individual was lodged in the Clay County Detention Center.
