Sheriff Root Offers Commendations to Everyone for Assistance Provided in Recent I-75 Mass Shooting in Laurel Co., KY

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: We would like to commend the outstanding efforts of numerous agencies in responding to Laurel County to assist in the recent mass shooting incident which occurred in Laurel County on September 7, 2024 at exit 49 along I-75 at approximately 5:27 P.M.

In the face of such a tragic event, the swift and coordinated response of each agency provided much needed support. The courage and resilience shown by officers and staff are a testament to their training and commitment to public safety.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in the response efforts. Their actions have not only brought comfort and security to those affected but have reinforced the communities trust in our law enforcement and emergency services.

We would additionally like to extend our deepest gratitude and commendation to the support agencies that assisted law enforcement and emergency services for their extraordinary efforts and unwavering dedication in the aftermath of the mass shooting. Their response, and compassionate care was nothing short of exemplary. The support offered during such a critical time was instrumental in managing the crisis and providing much-needed relief to agencies investigating and searching. The commitment to the well-being of our community is truly commendable. Your support and compassionate care is a testament to the strength and unity of our community.
