LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Robert Reed along with Deputy Austyn Weddle arrested Cody Collett age 28 of W. 16th St., London on Tuesday morning March 11, 2025 at approximately 10:49 AM.
The arrest occurred off McWhorter Road, approximately 1 mile east of London after deputies were dispatched by London – Laurel County 911 Communication Ctr. to a complaint of a possible stolen vehicle.
When deputies located the vehicle, they ran the license plate through NCIC and learned it was a reported stolen vehicle. Deputies noted that an individual identified as Cody Collett was in the driver seat with the keys in the ignition.
In addition, Collett had a 9mm pistol concealed in his waistband and deputies determined that he was a convicted felon and had an active warrant on file. In addition, the pistol was determined to be stolen.
Cody Collett was charged with:
- Receiving stolen property $10,000 or more
- Receiving stolen property – firearm
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
In addition, this individual was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:
- Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot
- Criminal possession of a forged instrument – third-degree
