CAREER OFFENDER RECEIVES MAXIMUM SENTENCE FROM JURY IN WHITLEY COUNTY, KENTUCKY

WILLIAMSBURG, KY - The Commonwealth's Attorney's Office for Whitley & McCreary counties announced on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 that a career offender has been sentenced to prison after conviction by a jury in Whitley County.

Brandon Oakley was convicted by Commonwealth's Attorney Ronnie Bowling of:

  • Four (4) counts of Assault, 3rd Degree (Assault on a police officer)
  • Terroristic Threatening
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Being a Persistent Felony Offender, 1st Degree

After hearing Oakley's lengthy criminal history from North Carolina (and lack of punishment), a Whitley County jury had little issue returning the maximum penalty of twenty (20) years in prison.

Officers Dorman Patrick and Steven Hill from the Williamsburg Police Department were assaulted and investigated the indictment.
