WILLIAMSBURG, KY (February 01, 2024) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) reports that KSP Post 11, London was notified by Whitley County 911 shortly after midnight of an injury accident involving two vehicles on Interstate 75 southbound around the 17-mile marker in Whitley County. The collision resulted in one juvenile fatality.
The Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2017 white Ford Edge, operated by Matthew P. Croley L. Allen, 33 years-old of Williamsburg, KY or Jayna Ann Vorwerk, 22 years-old of Chandler, AZ was traveling southbound on Interstate 75 when their vehicle struck a 1996 maroon GEO Tracker operated by Alexis Brianna L. Flores, 25 years-old of Flat Lick, KY.
The rear passenger in the Ford Edge was not injured. The operator of the GEO Tracker was entrapped inside the vehicle but extricated and flown by Air Evac to the University of Tennessee Hospital with severe injuries. Three of her juvenile passengers were taken by Whitley County EMS to Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin with non-life-threatening injuries. Another juvenile passenger was ejected from the vehicle and received fatal injuries and pronounced deceased by the Whitley County Coroner’s Office on scene.
Alcohol is a contributing factor in this investigation.
Matthew P. Croley is charged with:
- Murder
- Assault 1st
- Wanton Endangerment 1st
- Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 1st
Jayna A. Vorwerk is charged with:
Both individuals were lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Post 11 Trooper Corey Jones. He was assisted at the scene by Post 11 personnel, Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Williamsburg Fire Department, Corbin Fire Department, Gold Bug Fire Department, Whitley County EMS, Corbin Police Department, Williamsburg Police Department, Air Evac and the Whitley County Coroner’s Office.
