TODDLER ALIVE DUE TO QUICK THINKING, DEDICATED LONDON PD OFFICER IN LAUREL COUNTY, KENTUCKY

LONDON, KY - On Monday, October 2, 2023 the London Police Department (LPD) reported on how a most tragic situation was turned into one of joy by the heroic actions of a quick thinking, dedicated to public safety LPD officer.

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, London PD Officer Sgt. Troy Truett demonstrated exceptional bravery and skill as he administered CPR to a 2 year-old boy who had drowned in a pool at a birthday party. The 2 year-old boy had jumped into a pool without his life jacket, leading to a drowning incident.

As the mother of the child pulled the 2 year old out of the water, he was blue, unresponsive, and without a pulse.

Without hesitation, Sgt. Truett rushed to the mother and child, quickly assessed the situation and recognizing the urgency of the child's condition, he cleared the area, evaluated the child's vital signs, and immediately began administering CPR.

After several chest compressions and a couple rescue breaths the 2 year-old boy regained consciousness and began to breathe again.

Sgt. Truett's selfless act of heroism deserves recognition and gratitude from both his local community and society at large. His dedication to public safety and his quick thinking in the face of a life-threatening situation serve as an inspiration to us all.

According to the report, Sgt. Troy Truett will be receiving the Life Saving Award and Medal for his actions.
