LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root and London City Police Chief Chuck Johnson are reporting that the Laurel County Drug Interdiction Task Force arrested two individuals on Sunday night September 10, 2023 at approximately 11:30 PM.
The arrests occurred off I–75 approximately 8 miles north of London off the southbound exit ramp after information was developed by the Task Force that an individual previously identified as a large scale distributor of Methamphetamine was enroute to London from Louisville, Kentucky with several pounds of Methamphetamine.
Task Force investigators intercepted the suspects in a pickup truck along I-75 and a London City Police K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Approximately 4 1/2 pounds of Methamphetamine was recovered.
In addition, a sum of U.S. currency and approximately 14 grams of Cocaine were also recovered.
The two arrested individuals were identified as: The driver, Arthur C. Powers age 53 of Louisville, KY and the passenger, Stacy L. Gummer age 43, also of Louisville, KY.

Arthur C. Powers was charged with:
- TRAFF IN CONT SUB, 1ST DEGREE, 2ND OR > - (> OR = 2GMS METHAMPHETAMINE)
Stacy L. Gummer age 43 was charged with:
- TRAFF IN CONT SUB, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFF - (> OR = 2 GMS METHAMPHETAMINE)
- POSS OF MARIJUANA
- POSS CONT SUB 1ST DEG 1ST OFF (COCAINE)
These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
