KENTUCKY VOTER REGISTRATION REMAINS STRONG AS SEVERAL THOUSAND NEW VOTERS REGISTER IN A TWO WEEK PERIOD

FRANKFORT, KY – Secretary of State Michael Adams has announced that new voter registration remains strong coming out of the May 16 primary election.

From May 17 through May 31, 4,420 new voters registered to vote, for a net gain of 2,266 new voters.   

“I am pleased to see heightened voter interest in our November election for constitutional offices,” said Adams. “It’s imperative that our local governments make available enough voting locations for our people, and I stand ready to assist.”

In the same two-week period, 2,154 voters were removed – 1,692 deceased voters, 307 voters who moved out of state, 116 who voluntarily de-registered, and 39 who were adjudged mentally incompetent.

Republican registrants account for 45.9 percent of the electorate, with 1,591,456 voters. Republican registration increased by 3,907 voters, a .25 percent increase. Democratic registrants make up 44.1 percent of the electorate, with 1,531,922 voters. Democrat registration decreased by 2,664 voters, a .17 percent decrease. There are 347,486 voters registered under other political parties, 10 percent of the electorate. “Other” registration increased by 1,023 voters, a .3 percent increase.
