LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's K-9 Deputy Brian France is conducting a death investigation regarding a missing person’s case he was investigating on Monday night May 8, 2023 at approximately 9:06 PM.
The victim, Shawn Martin age 31 of Versailles, KY was reported as a missing person on Monday, May 8, 2023. It was reported that this subject had entered the woods behind a residence off Cloud Subdivision Lane approximately 3 miles east of London on Monday afternoon and had failed to return.
A search was conducted in that area and the victim was located deceased apparently as a result of a fall off a cliff. The circumstances are being investigated. Foul play is not suspected.
Assisting for the Laurel County Sheriff's office were: Laurel Sheriff's K-9/shift Sgt. Gary Mehler, Deputy Stephen Walker, Deputy Skyler McFarland. Also assisting on the search and investigation were: Laurel County Department of Public Safety, London Laurel Rescue Squad, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, and the Laurel County Coroner's office.
Laurel Sheriff's K-9 Deputy Brian France is the case officer, and continues to investigate.
