Victim's names released from double shooting in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting the following updated information regarding a shooting which occurred on Friday afternoon June 12, 2020 at approximately 4:28 P.M. at a residence 10 miles north of London off Allen School Road.

The deceased victim is identified as:

  • Charlie Sizemore age 59 of Allen School Rd., East Bernstadt.

The injured victim is identified as:

  • His wife Elaine Sizemore age 56 of Allen School Rd., East Bernstadt ---She was shot once in the neck and once in the back.

Investigators report that allegedly there was a domestic argument inside the residence which resulted in the female victim being shot twice by her husband who then turned the gun on himself.

Investigators report nine children present outside at the time of the shooting.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Lieut. Chris Edwards is investigating a shooting which occurred off Allen School Road at a residence following a suspected domestic dispute on Friday afternoon June 12, 2020 at approximately 4:28 PM.

One individual was pronounced deceased at the scene from a gunshot wound and another individual has been airlifted by PHI helicopter to UK Medical Center in critical condition with gunshot wounds.

A 9 MM pistol has been recovered. More information will be released following next of kin notification.

Also assisting at the scene for Laurel County Sheriff's office was: Major Chuck Johnson, Sgt. Greg Poynter, Deputy Brad Mink, Deputy Allen Turner, Deputy Hunter Disney, and Deputy Daniel Reed. Also assisting was Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County and Crossroads volunteer fire department and Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling.

** There is no danger to the public. The shooter is apparently one of the victims.
