Alleged DUI driver in Clay Co., Ky. leaves small child & female at injury crash scene on Highway 687

Manchester, KY (June 7, 2020)- Clay County Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that on June 6, 2020 at approximately 5:00 PM Clay County Sheriff Deputy Coty Arnold arrested David Tipton, 39 of Urban Creek.

The arrest occurred when Deputy Arnold received a complaint of a vehicle accident with injury on Highway 687.

Upon arrival within the vicinity of the accident, Deputy Arnold was made aware by a citizen that the driver of the vehicle had left a small juvenile child and female at the wreck and had taken off on foot down the road.

Deputy Arnold located the above mentioned subject and through investigation it was determined the subject was manifestly under the influence.

After rending aid, Deputy Arnold transported the subject to AdventHealth Manchester where he refused to submit to a blood test. The driver also had a suspended license confirmed through Clay County Dispatch. 

David Tipton was charged with:

• Operating Motor vehicle under the influence of ALC/DRUGS/ETC
• Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operator license
• Leaving the scene of accident
• Giving Officer False Identifying Information
