LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Jamie Etherton along with Deputy Allen Turner, Deputy Daniel Reed, Deputy Hunter Disney, Sgt. Greg Poynter, while assisting Bailiff Jerry Poynter arrested Christopher Todd Smith age 34 of Corbin on Sunday evening May 10, 2020 at approximately 6:36 PM.
The arrest occurred off American Greeting Card Road, approximately 9 miles South of London following a scuffle with a suspect who assaulted Bailiff Poynter by hitting him with his hands and attempting to flee on foot.
Christopher Todd Smith was charged with:
- Assault – third-degree – police officer is victim
- Disorderly conduct – second-degree
- Menacing
- Resisting arrest
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
