3 Airlifted from Scene of Serious Injury Crash in Laurel County

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's K-9 Deputy Jake Miller along with Deputy Josh Morgan investigated a two vehicle serious injury traffic crash which occurred on Sunday afternoon February 9, 2020 at approximately 1:21 PM on KY 312 at the Level Green Road intersection, approximately 10 miles South of London.

The investigating deputies report that apparently a green colored pickup truck pulled out from Level Green Road onto KY 312 apparently failing to stop and pulled in front of the path of an east bound red colored SUV colliding with it.

Three persons were airlifted by 3 helicopters from the scene to UK Medical Center in Lexington with serious injuries.

Two other persons were transported by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County to Corbin Healthcare for treatment of injuries.

Those involved were:

  • The driver of the green colored pickup was identified as – Brandi L. Lewis age 22 of London airlifted from the scene to UK Medical Center for treatment of injuries. This individual was also charged with: DUI, Failure to stop at stop sign, and Possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Passenger – Mercede Jackson age 26 flown to UK Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
  • Passenger – Tina Polly age 40 flown to UK Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
  • Ashley Cole age 35 transported to Baptist Healthcare for treatment of injuries.
  • Randy Lester age 35 transported to Baptist Healthcare for treatment of injuries.
  • The driver of the red SUV – Danny Burkhart did not seek medical attention.

Assisting at the scene was Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, London Laurel Rescue squad, Keavy Volunteer Fire Dept. PHI helicopter, Air Methods helicopter, and Air Evac helicopter.
