MANCHESTER, KY - Clay County Sheriff Patrick Robinson reports that on Sunday, January 5th, 2025, Deputy Dustin Henson responded to a call through Clay County Dispatch of a suspicious vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway with its left turn signal on and that it had been sitting there for a long period of time.
The vehicle was the subject of concern for local residents.
Deputy Henson arrived at the scene to find the vehicle's driver, Mariah Hodges, 29, of Manchester, KY, asleep behind the wheel with the engine running and the vehicle in drive. Despite multiple attempts to wake her, Hodges eventually responded to the deputy's knocks on the window. She exhibited signs of impairment, including slurred speech and glossy eyes, and failed to provide a coherent reason for her condition. When asked to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), Hodges struggled to maintain balance and admitted to taking Neurontin and an unspecified blue pill.
Further checks revealed that Hodges was driving with a DUI-suspended license, and the vehicle she was operating was improperly registered with no proof of insurance. The registration plate did not match the vehicle.
Mariah Hodges was arrested on charges including:
