Weapons, Drugs & Cash seized during KCSD Investigation in Knox County

DEWITT, KY (August 24, 2019) - The Knox County, Ky. Sheriff's Department is reporting that: On Thursday August 22, 2019 Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith along with several deputies conducted a search at the residence of Earnie Hammons on Hale Fork Road in Dewitt.

KNOX Raid 8 22 19

During the investigation, located and seized was:

  • Numerous Oxycodone tablets
  • Hydrocodone tablets
  • Xanxa tablets
  • Gabapentin tablets
  • Suboxone tablets and strips
  • Approximately one pound of Marijuana
  • An AK-47 assault rifle
  • A handgun
  • Over $29,000 in U.S. currency

Earnie Hammons age 53 of Dewitt, KY was arrested and charged with:

  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance-1st Degree
  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance-2nd Degree
  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance-3rd Degree
  • Trafficking in Marijuana-under 5 pounds
  • Prescription Controlled Substance not in Proper Container
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence

Earnie Hammons was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
