Extra Patrol by Sheriff's Deputy leads to Arrests at a Cemetery in Clay County

Clay County, Ky. -  Sheriff Patrick Robinson is reporting that: On March 2, 2019 at approximately 12:50 PM Clay County Sheriff Deputy Jeremy Gabbard arrested two individuals while providing extra patrol on Paces Creek Road.

Arrested was:

Lonnie Philpot age 41 of Philpot Lane and Mary Truett age 48 of Paces Creek Road.

The arrests occurred while Deputy Gabbard was providing extra patrol on Paces Creek Road when he located the individuals parked at the Paces Creek Cemetery with the car running.

Upon contact with the driver he stated he had picked up the female subject at the Arrowhead Court Trailer Park and they were waiting on a friend.

Upon running the information of the driver through Clay County 911, it was confirmed the driver had a suspended driver license.

Upon search of the vehicle, Deputy Gabbard located a vial in the glovebox hidden inside the owner's manual that contained a white crystal rock that tested positive for Methamphetamine.

The passenger of the vehicle was determined to be under the influence of a controlled Substance.

Lonnie Philpot was charged with:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine)
  • Driving on DUI Suspended License 1st Offense
  • License to be in Possession
  • Failure to Produce Insurance Card
  • Mary Truett was charged with:

  • Public Intoxication of Controlled Substance (Excludes Alcohol)
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine)
  • Assisting Deputy Gabbard at the scene was Clay County Sheriff Deputies Cody Blackwell and Brandon Edwards.
