PINEVILLE, KY (December 31, 2024) - The Bell County Ky. Sheriff's Department reports that at 10:24 p.m. Wednesday night December 25, 2024, Bell County Dispatch received a call regarding an unresponsive male at a Highway 3482 residence in Calvin.
Once on the scene, it was determined by deputies that an altercation between family members had occurred which led to an 18-year-old member of the family shooting the other causing a life-threatening injury.
CPR was administered on the scene before the deputies' arrival, but the individual died at the scene.
Bell County Deputy Coroner Don Horton was dispatched to the scene and declared the victim, identified as, 55-year-old Michael Smith of Calvin, Kentucky deceased.
On Monday, December 30, 2024, the 18-year-old was arrested. He was then lodged in the Bell County Detention Center.
Hunter Smith is charged with:
- MANSLAUGHTER 1ST DEGREE
