KSP - Single Vehicle Crash Kills Jackson Man



Hazard, Ky. (July 17, 2018) – A Breathitt County man was killed yesterday morning as the result of a single vehicle crash. Trooper Mike Wolfe with Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard responded to the collision scene on Highway 30 West in the Shoulderblade community at around 10:00 a.m. Arrow-Med Ambulance and Jackson Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

The initial investigation determined that a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck was traveling on KY 30 West when the driver lost control of the vehicle in a curve. The truck overturned on the roadway and came to rest on its top. The driver of the truck, 68 year old Larry R. Lewis of Jackson was pronounced deceased at the scene by Breathitt County Coroner George Griffith. There were no other occupants or vehicles involved in this collision.

Mr. Lewis was not wearing a seat belt at the time of this crash. There will be no autopsy performed, and toxicology results are pending. This incident remains under investigation by Tpr. Mike Wolfe with KSP Post 13.>
