Clay County Attorney Candidate shares vision for a cleaner South Fork of the Kentucky River

Manchester, KY -  Local attorney/ business owner Stella B. House shares her vision for a cleaner & safer South Fork of the Kentucky River.

{Ms.House is sponsoring KAYAKING FOR A CAUSE event. On Sunday, May 20, 2018. The event is scheduled to begin at 1:30 P.M. EST, you can help make her vision a reality.

Why is this event so important to Clay County, Kentucky?

Discarded tires pose a very serious health hazard to Clay County families, tourists and animals.
The tires store water, providing an ideal breeding environment for mosquitoes that carry & spread the deadly West Nile virus to humans and their pets.

Stella B. House and her daughter, Eloise are asking that you please join them at the KAYAKING FOR A CAUSE event and help remove discarded and unsightly tires from the river banks of the South Fork of the Kentucky River.

Participants and volunteers need to meet at the River Bend Farm, owned by Ron & Dawn Wardecke, at 9880 Newfound Road near the Clay/Owsley County line at 1:30 pm, EST, on Sunday, May 20, 2018.

The participants and their kayaks will be transported to the put in location by volunteers, where they can unload their kayaks and start kayaking down the South Fork of the Kentucky River.

Along the way, each participant is requested to pick-up at least two (2) tires and drop them off on the river bank below the River Bend Farm.

From there, the participants can take a short walk up the hill to the River Bend Farm; retrieve their vehicles; and drive back down to the river bank and load their kayaks.

A light meal, which will be prepared by volunteers during the kayaking excursion, will be available for participants at the River Bend Farm after completion of the kayaking excursion.

Ms. House wants to thank Clay County officials and solid waste employees for agreeing to pick-up and store the tires, until PRIDE can pick-up and properly dispose of them this fall.

George Lucas once said, "YOUR FOCUS DETERMINES YOUR REALITY."

Ms. House wants to encourage you to focus on her vision - a vision for a better, cleaner Clay County. She believes, "We can make this vision a reality TOGETHER."
