KSP Continues Jackson County Murder Investigation Following Arrest

MCKEE, Ky. (April 28, 2018) –The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post has charged one person with murder, and is asking for the public’s help locating another Jackson County man as the result of an ongoing death investigation.

The initial investigation indicates that Joey R. Marcum, 35 years old, and Whitney R. Venable, 28 years old, both of McKee were killed during an incident in Jackson County this past December. At approximately 3:15 pm on December 28, 2017, Jackson County Dispatch received a call of a vehicle fire on Rock Lick Road. When first responders arrived at the scene, they located two deceased individuals, later identified as Joey Marcum and Whitney Venable.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, Bobby L. Hammonds, 40 years old of McKee, was arrested yesterday afternoon and is lodged in the Jackson County Detention Center charged with two counts of Murder. In addition, Terry L. Hammonds, 41 years old of McKee, is wanted for two counts of Conspiracy to Commit Murder.
