Attorney General Cameron and Commonwealth’s Attorney Jackie Steele have Jointly Filed a Lawsuit in Laurel Circuit Court Against Parole Board on Behalf of Kentucky Crime Victims

FRANKFORT, KY – Attorney General Daniel Cameron on Friday June 11, 2021 filed a lawsuit in Laurel Circuit Court on behalf of Kentucky crime victims.  The lawsuit, filed jointly with Commonwealth’s Attorney Jackie Steele, seeks to invalidate a Parole Board directive that limits the Board’s ability to order a prisoner to serve out a life sentence at an initial parole eligibility hearing.  The directive grants a new parole hearing to more than 40 Kentucky prisoners whom the Board previously ordered to serve out their life sentences for charges including murder, rape, and kidnapping.

FRANKFORT, KY – On Thursday June 10, 2021 Kentucky State Police (KSP), along with Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman and Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet Secretary Mary Noble, held the annual memorial ceremony honoring 37 fallen troopers, officers and highway patrolmen who have died in the line of duty since the agency's inception. This ceremony has previously been held in May during National Police Week, but was rescheduled to ensure family members of the fallen officers could safely gather together.
