Danny Ray Hacker passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024 surrounded by family. Danny Ray had battled stage 4 lung cancer since January 2023. He fought hard until his last breath. Danny was always the life of The party. He never met a stranger.
If Danny called you a friend you were one of the luckiest people in the world. Even when he was in the worst pain he would try to bring a smile to anyone he came across. Danny spent most of his life working various manual labor jobs. He loved to work with his hands and fix things. Danny was an avid UK fan and never missed a game on TV. Danny Ray loved the outdoors. If the sun was shinning you could always find him by a pond fishing. Danny was a loving husband, father, stepfather, and brother. Above all those titles Danny was a beloved pa-paw. His grandbabies were his world. He was a firm believer in God and God carried him home through all this. Danny will be greatly missed by all those he loved and all those he came into contact with.
He is survived by wife Shelia Cottrell-Hacker, his children: Danielle (Nick) Gaskin and Kyle (Taylor) Hacker, his step-children: Amy Cottrell, Michelle (Donny) Riggin and Michael McWhorter, his grandchildren: Lexi, Avery, Jaylyn Gaskin; Kiley and Kyle Hacker and his siblings: Kathleen (Jerry) Kindred, Carol Dean Hacker, Donna (Tim) Brock, DY (Traci) Hacker and Tater (Shelly) Hacker.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Lynne Hacker, his daughter Chelsea Ray Hacker and his parents Virginia and D.Y. Hacker.
Funeral Services for Danny Ray Hacker will be conducted on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 2 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. John “Boo” Smith will be presiding. Burial will follow in the Nicholson Cemetery in the Fogertown Community.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Saturday after 12 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Rominger Funeral Home.
