TODDLER ALLEGEDLY INJESTS DRUGS, MOTHER ARRESTED IN LONDON, KENTUCKY

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Taylor McDaniel arrested Jessica Mills age 32 of Laurel River Church Rd., London on Wednesday night February 5, 2025 at approximately 8:43 PM.

The arrest occurred off St. Joseph Lane in London after deputies were dispatched by London – Laurel County 911 Communication Ctr. to a complaint off Laurel River Church Road, 7 miles southeast of London that a 15 month old child had allegedly ingested a small bag of methamphetamine.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they located the plastic bag containing a white crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine that the child had allegedly ingested. The bag was field tested and tested positive for methamphetamine.

The child was transported to CHI Saint Joseph Hospital in London for treatment and was in stable condition. The child's mother –Jessica Mills was arrested.

Jessica Mills was charged with:

  • CRIMINAL ABUSE 1ST DEGREE-CHILD 12 OR UNDER

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Assisting at the scene and on the investigation were: Laurel Sheriff's shift Sgt. Allen Turner, Deputy Daniel Reed. Social Services also assisted.

Detective Taylor McDaniel (case officer), and Detective Tommy Houston continue to investigate.
