Mrs. Leona Woods Jones born April 14, 1926 departed this life on Friday, May 1, 2020 at the St. Joseph Hospital Berea, Berea, Ky. She was 94 years old. Leona was born in the Leslie Co., Ky., the daughter of the late Theo Woods & Lucy Osborne.
Leona was a loving mother, grandmother & homemaker. She had been a resident of Waco, Ky.,, for the past 15 years, having moved from Leslie Co., Ky. She was of the Christian faith & enjoyed quilting, sewing, watching television, & her dogs. Leona's greatest joy came from spending time with her family.
Mrs. Leona Woods Jones was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Oakley Jones, her loving and devoted husband; Felix Jones, three beloved infant children; Vanda Jean, Billy, Theo Jones; beloved daughter; Alice Ruth Jones Young; beloved grandson; Henry "Johnny" Jones, beloved great granddaughter; Ivy; the father of the children; Lester Jones, Sr., eight brothers & sisters.
Mrs. Leona Woods Jones leaves the following relatives surviving; three cherished sons; Estill "Bird" Jones & wife, Brenda of London, Ky., Sherman Jones & wife, Kathleen of London, Ky., Lester Jones, Jr. & wife LeAnn of Waco, Ky., one cherished daughter; Zola Egbert & husband, Jimmy of Oxford, Ohio, one cherished granddaughter she raised as her own; Melissa Henson & husband, Ron, of London, Ky., 18 treasured grandchildren, 45 treasured great-grandchildren, 15 treasured great, great grandchildren & a host of other relatives and friends.
The following will serve as pallbearers; Estill "Bird" Jones, Johnny Jones, J.D. Jones, Jjosh Wagers, Michael Jones & Frank Wilkerson.
In accordance with the regulations concerning the Covid-19 mandated by Gov. Beshear & the Ky. Funeral Directors Association the funeral service will be private & for immediate family only.
