Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Sgt. Larry Parrott along with Deputy Tommy Houston and Deputy Shawn Jackson arrested two individuals off West Cumberland Gap Pkwy. in a business parking lot approximately 11 miles south of London early Thursday morning September 15th 2016 at approximately 1:40 AM.
Deputies conducted an investigation on the driver and passenger of a maroon colored Ford Explorer after receiving a complaint about them being possibly intoxicated.
While deputies conducted their investigation, the male subject ran toward the back of the building and fled for approximately 2/10 of a mile into another business parking lot and attempted to hide under a truck. The suspect refused to come out from under the truck and deputies had to remove him and he began to fight with deputies, picking up a metal barrel and striking Deputy Jackson in the chest destroying his uniform and causing injury to his left hand.
Following a brief scuffle this suspect was taken into custody. Deputies learned through investigation this subject had apparently been doing methamphetamine and smoking marijuana. In addition, this subject was wanted on outstanding warrants of arrest.

In addition, this subject was charged on a Fayette County warrant of arrest charging- leaving the scene of an accident – failure to render aid regarding a hit and run traffic crash investigated by Lexington Police Department.
In addition, this subject was charged on a Fayette County bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting.
The two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
