Update on mother of 2 year old child found at home where meth was being smoked last week

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Detective Kevin Berry and Detective Kyle Gray arrested Anna Burdette age 29 of West 16th street, London on Monday morning August 29, 2016 at approximately 11:06 AM. charging her with criminal abuse – first-degree – child 12 or under, and Wanton Endangerment 1st degree regarding an ongoing investigation after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of an argument at a residence off White Oak Road approximately 6 miles west of London on August 23, 2016.

At that original complaint deputies and detectives conducted an investigation, and learned that a two-year-old female child had been present in the residence while Benjamin Burdette, her father, used meth.

On that date, Benjamin Burdette was charged with wanton endangerment – first-degree; two counts of cruelty to animals – second-degree; and charged on a Laurel County indictment warrant of arrest charging two counts of failure to comply with sex offender registration first offense and persistent felony offender I. Benjamin Burdette was lodged in the Laurel County detention Center.

In addition, inside the home investigators found several medications, chemicals, and meth pipes that the infant child could have easily accessed. Social services was contacted and the child was removed from the home.

Toxicology tests are being conducted on the two-year-old daughter and the results are not in, but the infant appears to be okay. Her mother, Anna Burdette, was arrested at a residence on West 16th St. in London and was lodged in the Laurel County detention Center.

The two-year-old child's father had been lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center on August 23, 2016 where he remained in custody and on Monday, August 29, 2016, detectives charged this subject on the charge of criminal abuse – first-degree – child 12 or under. He remains lodged in the Laurel County detention Center.

The two-year-old child was placed with a grandparent by social services.
