BOONEVILLE, Ky. (July 26, 2016) – The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred as a result of an attempted armed robbery just before 5:00 am this morning in Owsley County.
The initial investigation indicates that Jamie M. Farthing, 37 years old of Booneville, Charles Harris II, 42 years old of Booneville, and Linda Peters, 36 years old of Booneville, travelled to a residence on HWY 846 this morning and attempted to rob the homeowner. Charles Harris II was allegedly armed with a handgun and was fatally shot by the homeowner near the front door of the residence, after he pulled the gun on the resident.
Harris was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Owsley County Coroner. Linda Peters was shot in the arm during the incident and has been transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. As a result of the initial investigation, Jamie Farthing was arrested and is lodged in the Three Forks Regional Jail charged with Robbery 1st Degree.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Detective Jesse Armstrong. He was assisted at the scene by KSP Personnel, Owsley County Sheriff’s Office, Allen’s Ambulance Service, and the Owsley County Coroner.
