Two people airlifted with serious injuries after crash on U.S. 25 north of London

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Josh Scott along with Deputy Craig Sutton investigated a two vehicle serious injury traffic crash which occurred on U.S. 25, approximately 1 mile north of London on Tuesday morning February 23, 2016 at approximately 11:54 AM.

The investigating deputies report that apparently three vehicles were stopped in traffic northbound on U.S. 25 because the lead vehicle was attempting a left turn onto Robinson Road.

A fourth vehicle a 2003 Chevrolet Impala also traveling northbound on US 25 was unable to stop and struck the third vehicle in the line of stopped traffic. That vehicle was knocked off the roadway onto the eastbound shoulder of US 25 with severe damage to the rear of the 2002 Chevrolet Impala.

The vehicle that hit the vehicle in the rear traveled off the westbound shoulder of U.S. 25 into a ditch on Robinson Road road. The Impala that had been stopped in traffic that was struck in the rear was driven by Jody Osborne age 39 London. A passenger in that vehicle – Toni Osborne age 46 also of London was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in London for treatment of injuries.

The driver of Chevrolet Impala that apparently hit the other vehicle in the rear was identified as Ernie Jones age 77 of East Bernstadt. A passenger in that vehicle was identified as Bonnie Jones age 78 also of East Bernstadt. Both occupants in this vehicle were airlifted from near the scene to UK Hospital Lexington for treatment of serious injuries.

Assisting at the scene of the crash was East Bernstadt Volunteer Fire department, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, PHI helicopter, and Air Methods helicopter.
