LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: On Thursday afternoon March 6th, 2025 at approximately 12:56 PM, members of the Laurel County Drug Interdiction Task Force arrested two individuals following a traffic stop for a registration violation on a white Chevrolet Malibu stopped on I–75, approximately 10 miles north of London.
During the stop Laurel Sheriff’s Interdiction Unit Justin Taylor and Deputy Bobby Roberts detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and conducted an investigation on both the driver and passenger.
While the investigation was occurring task force members observed the female passenger, Ariel Saylor, throw something under the vehicle and found a large quantity of meth inside a bag. Task Force Members located a concealed .380 handgun under the driver's seat and learned that the driver, James Eric Brock was a convicted felon.
In addition, he was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl, gabapentin, and a large quantity of counterfeit pills. Brock was also determined to be driving on a DUI suspended license.
The passenger Ariel Saylor was found in possession of a glass smoking pipe containing residue consistent with methamphetamine. In addition she was found in possession of digital scales, hypodermic syringes and additional glass smoking pipes with residue.
The two arrested individuals were identified as: The driver, James Eric Brock, age 38, of Hemlock Hill Rd., Pineville, KY and the passenger, Ariel Saylor, age 22, of North Side Dr., Pineville, KY.

James Eric Brock was charged with:
Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – second offense – methamphetamine; trafficking in a controlled substance – first offense – fentanyl derivatives; trafficking in a controlled substance – third-degree – first offense; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – fentanyl; prescription controlled substances not in proper container – first offense; possession of a handgun by a convicted felon; possession of a controlled substance – second-degree; possession of marijuana.
Ariel Saylor was charged with:
Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; prescription controlled substances not in proper container – first offense; possession of a controlled substance – third-degree.
These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
