FRANKFORT, KY. – Attorney General Andy Beshear announced on January 8th, 2016, that his office obtained a conviction of an Adair County man on two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance and for being a persistent felony offender.
Michael L. Taylor, 53, of Columbia, was found guilty this week by an Adair County Jury that recommended Taylor serve a combined sentence of 40 years.
The Attorney General’s Office of Special Prosecutions, through assistant attorneys general Shawna Kincer and Aaron Ann Cole, obtained the conviction Wednesday, January 6th, 2016, following a two-day jury trial in Adair County.
The action stems from a 2014 Columbia Police Department investigation involving a confidential informant who purchased cocaine from Taylor on two separate occasions. The seized narcotics were sent to and analyzed by the Kentucky State Police Crime Lab.
“Today, our families are safer based on our efforts,” Beshear said. “Each time we can work with law enforcement to take a drug dealer off our streets, we are helping keep Kentucky families and children safe. I applaud the Columbia Police Department and the members of our team for partnering on this case.”
