**Update on missing hunter found deceased in southern Laurel County**
Sheriff John Root is reporting that Sgt. Robbie Grimes along with Deputy Brandon Broughton are conducting a death investigation regarding a search that was conducted in southern Laurel County on Tuesday afternoon and evening for a hunter that was reported as missing.
The victim was found by a London Laurel Rescue Squad K-9 dog at approximately 6:41 PM. on Tuesday night August 25, 2015, and had fatal injuries apparently from an accidental fall.
Apparently the victim and a friend (both of Berea, Ky) went squirrel hunting at approximately 6:45 AM Tuesday morning on a large tract of land off Martin Road, approximately 11 miles south of London.
The two men split up to hunt, and the victim never came out of the woods, and was reported as missing to authorities.
The victim was identified as Stanley Wayne Pearson age 69 of Berea. The death appears to be accidental.
Apparently the victim had shot a squirrel and when he went to retrieve it, the victim slipped and fell down a bank resulting in a fatal injury.
Assisting on the earlier land search was Laurel County Department of Public Safety personnel and Laurel County Emergency Management personnel, along with London Laurel Rescue Squad and their K-9 dog. Also assisting at the scene was the Laurel County Coroner's office.
