Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Brandon Broughton is investigating a single vehicle hit and run injury traffic crash which occurred on ky 229, approximately 8 miles south of London on July 7, 2015 at approximately 5 PM.
Deputy Broughton reports that apparently a silver colored Dodge neon was traveling northbound on KY 229 when it ran off the roadway, jumped a culvert, traveling up a steep embankment and striking a tree, flipping back onto its wheels and coming to rest in the southbound lane of KY 229.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the crash.
Two passengers in the vehicle were injured and are identified as:
Front seat passenger Miranda Lawson age 18 of Cannon, KY – she was ejected from the vehicle and was airlifted from the scene by P.H.I. helicopter to U.T. hospital Knoxville for treatment of severe injuries and rear seat passenger Eddie Wagers age 55 of Echo Valley Road, Lily treated and released at the scene by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County.
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and is currently being sought by deputies with charges expected when he is located.
Assisting at the scene was: Campground Volunteer Fire Department, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, London-Laurel County Rescue Squad, PHI helicopter, and KSP/CVE officer Chris McQueen.
Investigation is continuing by Deputy Brandon Broughton.
