Laurel County, Ky. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Kyle Gray arrested April Tipton age 35 of Keavy early Tuesday morning July 7, 2015 at approximately 1:55 AM.
The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart's loss prevention team detained this subject.
When Deputy Gray arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation be learned that this subject had allegedly been observed concealing merchandise on her person valued at $119.22.
In addition, Deputy Gray learned that this subject had allegedly driven her white colored Dodge avenger to the store, and Deputy Gray observed that she appeared to be under the influence. Deputy Gray learned that she had allegedly taken three Roxicodone 30's earlier and stated she had driven to Walmart to steal items to trade for drugs.
She was determined to be under the influence.
April Tipton was charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting; operating a motor vehicle under the influence – second offense; driving on DUI suspended license – first offense; and other traffic violations and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
