TIP LEADS TO DRUG ARREST OF WANTED EAST BERNSTADT, KY MAN IN LAUREL CO.

LONDON, KY — Laurel County Sheriff John root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Reed arrested James Ronald Stines, age 35, of East Bernstadt on Friday night March 7, 2025 at approximately 7:30 PM.

The arrest occurred at a business off North Laurel Rd., approximately 2 miles north of London after Deputy Reed received a tip on the location of an individual wanted on an indictment warrant. When Deputy Reed made contact with the individual, he noted the individual kept attempting to reach inside his pocket.

Deputy Reed conducted an investigation and determined that this individual was in fact wanted on an indictment warrant.
Upon arrest this individual threw a small clear plastic bag between two objects. Deputy Reed retrieved the bag and noted it contained a crystal like substance believed to be methamphetamine. The suspect attempted to pull away from Deputy Reed during arrest but was taken into custody.

James Ronald Stines was charged on a Laurel Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest charging:

  • Receiving stolen property- firearm

In addition, Stines was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – methamphetamine
  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Resisting arrest

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
