SOMERSET, KY — Sheriff Bobby Jones reports the arrest of an Albany man and woman after a traffic stop uncovered the possession of a firearm by convicted felons.
On April 10, 2025, at approximately 10:39 pm, Deputy Dylan West was performing regular patrol in the Science Hill area of U.S. 27 when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Deputy West performed a traffic stop on the vehicle and Deputy Noah Wesley assisted in the stop. Units requested consent to search the vehicle, and was granted by the occupants.
While conducting the search, deputies located a handgun in the back pocket of the driver’s seat. After a brief check of the occupant’s history, Deputy West discovered both the male and female in the vehicle were convicted felons.
Matthew G. Wray, 36 years of age, Albany, KY, was arrested from the traffic stop and charged with:
- Speeding 26 MPH or Greater
- Careless Driving
- No Tail Lamps
- Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon
Brittany A. Wray, 35 years of age, Albany, KY, was also arrested from the traffic stop and charged with:
- Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon
Both subjects were transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center without further incident.
