SOMERSET, KY - Pulaski County Sheriff Bobby Jones reports the arrest of two Somerset men after deputies assist U.S. Forest Service-Daniel Boone National Forest with a search warrant.
On April 2, 2025, agents with the U.S. Forest Service tasked with investigating crimes in and around the Daniel Boone National Forest, requested the assistance of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office in the service of a search warrant on Hwy 1003, Somerset, KY.
U.S. Forest Service agents have been conducting a multi-county investigation into the theft of timber from the Daniel Boone National Forest.
Upon arrival to the property to be searched, agents and deputies were able to successfully remove all occupants of the residence safely to allow the search to be conducted.
During the search inside the residence, substances believed to be methamphetamine were located in two separate locations in the home. Also located on the property were several firearms, drug trafficking paraphernalia and stolen property.
Two suspects identified as Trent Allen Whitaker, age 33 of Somerset, KY and Nathaniel Dale Whitis, age 37 of, Somerset, KY were arrested from the scene. Both men were transported to the Pulaski County Detention Center.
Trent Whitaker was charged with:
Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
Nathaniel Whitis was arrested on:
- Two Failure to Appear bench warrants
Whitis was also charged with:
- Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree 1st Offense (Methamphetamine)
Both individuals were lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
