FEMA DOING VISUAL OVERVIEW OF DAMAGES TO CLAY COUNTY, KY AND COMMUNITIES

MANCHESTER, KY - Clay County Emergency Management is reporting that: A couple of gentlemen with FEMA will be in Clay County for the next couple days (Friday, 2/21-Sunday, 2/23), driving through and visually surveying damages.

They will be in a Black Jeep Wrangler with Illinois plates. These gentlemen will have identifying FEMA clothing and identification as well.

They will not be stopping at private residences.

Again, this is just a general visual overview of damages to our county and communities.

Please understand this is not an "official intake session", however we are working with FEMA to set up a Disaster Response Center for Individual Assistance questions/answers and applications.

Clay County Emergency Management realizes there are many questions during and after a disaster of how to get assistance. We also realize that there are many non-profit groups coming into the area to help with immediate needs.

Not only are we receiving calls into the County Judge Executive's office, but we are receiving names via KY state intake call center, neighbors and non-profit groups just to name a few.

CLAY COUNTY EMEGENCY MANAGEMENT CONTINUES WORKING WITH KYEM TO GET THE PRESIDENTIAL DECLARATION FOR INDIVIDUAL ASSISTANCE! Unfortunately, this does take time.

In the meantime, we are doing our best to share other nonprofit groups contact information that are working in our, and surrounding counties immediately.

Also, FEMA officials that are/have been in the county are only doing a visual overview and reporting back to their incident command - they are not here at this time to start taking applications for individual assistance.

Please continue to monitor our Facebook page for information as it becomes available.
